Robert Louis Stevenson (nato Robert Lewis Balfour Stevenson; 13 novembre 1850 – 3 dicembre 1894) è stato uno scrittore, saggista, poeta e scrittore di viaggi scozzese. È noto soprattutto per opere come “Treasure Island”, “Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”, “Kidnapped” e “A Child’s Garden of Verses”. Nato e istruito a Edimburgo, Stevenson ha sofferto di gravi problemi bronchiali per gran parte della sua vita, ma ha continuato a scrivere in modo prolifico e viaggiare molto a dispetto della sua cattiva salute. Nel 1890 si stabilì a Samoa dove morì nel 1894 all’età di 44 anni.

Robert Louis Stevenson (born Robert Lewis Balfour Stevenson; 13 November 1850 – 3 December 1894) was a Scottish novelist, essayist, poet, and travel writer. He is best known for works such as “Treasure Island”, “Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”, “Kidnapped”, and “A Child’s Garden of Verses”. Born and educated in Edinburgh, Stevenson suffered from serious bronchial trouble for much of his life, but continued to write prolifically and travel widely in defiance of his poor health. In 1890, he settled in Samoa where died in 1894 at age 44.
